As someone living with lupus, I'm always on the lookout for natural ways to heal my gut and improve my overall health. Making coconut water kefir at home is easy and only requires just TWO ingredients. Here's a simple recipe to get you started:


- 32 oz. of coconut water (my favorite brand is Harmless Harvest)

- 1/4 cup of kefir grains


Mix Coconut Water and Water Kefir grains in a clean 32 oz. glass jar (sterilized). Cover and let it sit it a dark, warm area for 24-48 hours. Burp after 24 hours to release gases (or risk explosion!) :) Strain the water kefir grains from the Coconut Water Kefir and save the grains to reuse them (they live on forever and grow!) Refrigerate and enjoy within 5 days.

These grains are a combination of bacteria and yeast that work together to create a probiotic-rich drink that is packed with health benefits. Think Komucha but easier with more probiotics! (Don't’ worry, the sugar is eaten by the kefir grains!)
